Buhle Waste is seeking public assistance in locating one of their trucks, loaded with hazardous waste, which was hijacked near Zimbane Lodge in Mthatha last week, June 9 around 21:00.
The company said the vehicle, an 8-ton Hino 500 truck branded Buhle Waste, was last tracked between Mthatha and Port St Johns.
The truck registration is JX80YS-GP.
“The truck was loaded with hazardous waste which, if dumped, could be a danger to the community,” warned a statement issued by the company.
If the truck or any package labelled Buhle Waste is spotted, the public is urged to immediately contact Portia Mabote at 084 408 4884 or Tebogo Orleyn at 067 379 7691 or alert their nearest police station.
Alternatively, one can call the company offices on 041 492 3579 or 043 492 0505.
The company said the matter was reported to the police on the same night of the hijacking.
Police were not immediately available for comment on the matter.
