Author Nontuthezelo Conjwa-Dia (60), from Misty Mount in Libode, has been left homeless after her five-roomed house was burnt to ashes by a veld fire started by an unknown person, last week.
She confirmed that she depends on a pension grant and on selling her book, Engaging Families on Youth Realities, since she is unemployed.’ Conjwa-Dia said she was sleeping when she noticed the smell of something burning in her bedroom. According to her, when she woke up, she noticed that the fire was already burning the ceiling in her bedroom.
According to her, she went to sleep in her neighbour’s house.She added that everything was burnt, including their particulars, and she only managed to save her cell phone because it was in her hand. Conjwa-Dia said she was the only victim of the fire in the area.
“I am suffering from a heart condition; it will be difficult for me to go and fetch my medication because my clinic cards were also burnt. “We are appealing to anyone who can assist us with anything, to do so.”
