Eastern Cape Department of Transport spokesperson, Unathi Binqose, has confirmed that the N2 has been reopened to traffic after being closed for nearly five hours this morning due to a protest reportedly linked to land claims.
Binqose said the protesters hijacked an articulated truck and used it to block the road before fleeing with the key, leaving the driver stranded and helpless.
The protest was reportedly linked to land claims.
“After some engagements between leaders and law enforcement, the key was found on the side of the road. The truck has since been removed, and traffic is flowing again,” he added.
