Khanyanati Trading (Pty) Ltd and the director Nothemba Gqibityala (56) were arrested by the East London Serious Commercial Crime Investigation (SCCI) together with South African Revenue Service (SARS) on 30 September 2025 for alleged contraventions of the Tax Administration Act.
According to the Hawks spokesperson, Warrant Officer Ndiphiwe Mhlakuvana, it is reported that during the period between November 2023 and December 2024, the accused allegedly failed to submit the required Pay As You Earn tax returns to SARS, both on behalf of the company and in her personal capacity.
Mhlakuvana added, “The accused were arrested and charged on 30 September 2025 and subsequently appeared before the East London Magistrates’ Court on the same day.”
They were released on a warning with the case set to be remanded to 20 October for further investigation and copies of the docket.
