Hollywoodbets Super League side, Thunderbirds Ladies, will never struggle again, when it comes for training equipment.

This follows after Ngqamakhwe-born and former Premier Soccer League spokesperson, Luxolo September, who is currently working for CAF, and his friend, businessman, Unathi Mabentsela, assisted the Butterworth-based soccer team by supplying them with training equipment on Thursday.

September and Mabentsela bought two sets of soccer kits, more than 30 soccer balls, bibs and pairs of soccer boots for players and handed them over to club management at Msobomvu sport ground on July 22.

They did this after they observed the bad situation of Thunderbirds Ladies during their training sessions and they decided to contribute some training items to boost the team.

Thunderbirds Ladies is the only ladies’ soccer team from the Eastern Cape which is part of the National Women’s League, but they did not have enough training resources, even though they are playing in the professional ranks.

They did not have enough balls and players were training with their own kit.

Things have changed now since September and his friend, Mabentsela, contributed to their own community team.

During the handover when September was speaking to players and team management, he said that as community members, they were fully behind the club and they were hoping that one day Thunderbirds Ladies would produce more players who would become international stars.

The Mnquma Local Municipality has applauded the contribution of September and Mabentsela to sports development.

Municipal spokesperson, Loyiso Mpalantshane, said they are very happy about the constant contribution of September to help the Mnquma community.

He said it was not the first time September had played a key role in sports development, as they noted that he also supplied schools with sports equipment.

Thunderbirds Ladies’ FC management have thanked September and Mabentsela for their assistance and they said sports material they received from them will bring them more confidence going forward.
