The Eastern Cape Department of Education is mourning the tragic loss of two Grade 5 and Grade 7 learners from Lukhanyo Primary School and Althorpe College in East London, Buffalo City Metro Education District.
According to the Eastern Cape Department of Education Spokesperson, Malibongwe Mtima, the learners according to a report from the district were playing and swimming in the dam when the tragedy happened.
“The incident happened on Sunday, February 3.
” The Department of Education together with the Department of Social Development has dispatched officials to visit the families of the deceased learners for psychological support,” said Mtima.
