Metro FM Song of the Year award winner, and Ngena Noah hitmaker, Bethusile Mcinga, has bagged another accolade as he was recently named as a brand ambassador for the Toyota Beacon Bay dealership in East London.
According to the dealership’s representative, Lwandi Ngebe, the decision to partner with Mcinga was taken after the euphoria created by his campaign for votes for the Metro FM awards, and seeing his following reaching increasing heights during the campaign.
Ngebe said that they have not specified the length of their newly-formed partnership with Mcinga, which she says will continue for as long as it was mutually beneficial for both parties.
“Mcinga continues to defy the odds and change the stereotype that musicians must relocate to Johannesburg to make it in the music industry. We also were impressed by his humility that endears him to people, which was a major contributor to the decision to partner with him as our brand ambassador,” said Ngebe.
Ngebe added that the partnership is also their way of contributing to arts and culture development as they previously focused on working with non-governmental organisations in the community upliftment sector.
Mcinga was presented with the latest Toyota Urban Cruiser by the dealership to seal the partnership, on May 28.
“What Buffalo Toyota East London has done for me is validation for other artists from rural backgrounds like me that their dreams can become a reality. This also encourages me to persevere and do more in the music industry,” Mcinga said upon receiving the key to his brand-new car.
Buffalo Toyota East London recently assisted in fund-raising for an Mthatha pensioner to get a new bakkie, after his old bakkie was impounded by traffic officers for being unroadworthy. The pensioner used his old vehicle to transport villagers from the city back to their rural communities and his old bakkie was well-known among pedestrians hiking daily for transport and carrying vegetables.
