The principal of Zelibangile Senior Secondary School in Mthatha, Chris Mdiya, is appealing to anyone who can assist his school with computers before he retires.
He said he will retire soon, but needs something he can leave as a legacy at this school.
According to Mdiya, the school has a classroom that was put aside for a computer laboratory, but it does not have even a single computer.
He said they only have two projectors that were donated by his friends.
According to him, the school is not doing well at times when it comes to school results, and this has a bad impact.
Mdiya said that he started as principal at this school in 2014 and teaching is not an easy thing. Sometimes there are conflicts, but he managed to survive because he knew he wanted to build the future of the black child.
“I always advise those who are still new in this industry to ensure that they focus only on teaching and learning. They must not involve themselves in conflicts that are taking place in schools.
“They must know that they are going to school to build the future of the learners, and they must learn to work with the school management.”
The spokesperson for the Department of Education, Malibongwe Mtima, said the District Director of OR Tambo District, Fundiswa Makrwede, said she was not aware of this problem.
Mtima said that she promised to make some calls about this issue.
“I can confirm that learners from other schools are still using their tablets. For instance, when we went to open one of the schools in Cofimvaba, learners were busy using them in their classroom,” said Mtima.
