BONGANI Kuzani, also known as KFB, a renowned and multi-award-winning presenter from Unitra Community Radio (UCR) in Mthatha, has once more been honoured for his exceptional work. He recently clinched an award in the “Community Radio Show” category for the UCR FM Top 30 Sounds at the Telkom Radio Awards. This prestigious awards ceremony took place recently at the Sandton Convention Centre.
Kuzani shared that he used to host the UCR FM Top 30 Sounds, originally broadcast on Saturdays from 21:00 to midnight. However, due to programming changes at the station, the show is now called the UCR FM Top 20 Sounds, and airs every Saturday from 22:00 to 00:00.
“This marks my fourth accolade as a presenter at this station. Winning these awards reflects growth in the broadcasting sphere and demonstrates that dedication to your craft eventually pays off. It inspires me to aim higher in the industry and to prepare for opportunities at major stations, such as public broadcasters and commercial radio,” Kuzani said.
He emphasised that each award holds significant meaning in his life, serving as a motivational force for his colleagues. Kuzani also hopes his achievements inspire young people, especially those from rural areas who aspire to break into the industry.
“I am proof that rural children can achieve what others in urban areas are doing. Each accolade signifies personal growth and adds pressure to perform even better.”
He fondly recalled the excitement and surprise he felt upon learning about his nomination and eventual win. Although it was his first time being nominated for these awards, he described the experience as incredible. According to him, he was unaware that his show had been nominated until the announcement.
Kuzani stated that winning a prize for simply doing his job is truly amazing. “I always say that my goal is to deliver quality work; the awards are just a bonus.” He highlighted the importance of persistence and hard work, saying, “Quitters never win. If you keep trying, one day the tables will turn in your favour. Respect the job you have been given, do it with love, and keep shining every day.”
He expressed heartfelt gratitude to his listeners and followers for their unwavering support.
