A
joint operation by South African Police Service tactical response team (TRT),
Public Order Policing (POP) and organised crime yielded positive results
following the arrest of four suspects for possession of unlicensed firearms and
ammunition.
Police
said that the arrests of the four, at Qutubeni Administrative Area in Ngcobo, are
part of their ongoing efforts to rid communities of crime.
The
arrests were made on Sunday, November 27.
“Police officers quickly responded to information on suspects believed to be from Cape Town who had attended a funeral and had suspected illegal firearms. Subsequently, four suspects aged between 20 and 22 were arrested, and two firearms arms and live ammunition were recovered,” said police spokesperson Captain Namhla Mdleleni.
Mdleleni
added that the suspects will appear before Ngcobo Magistrate Court soon.
