Detectives from the Libode police station are appealing to members of the community to assist with information that can lead to the arrest and prosecution of the suspects who are involved in the murder of two teenagers, a 16-year-old female and an 18-year-old male, who were gunned down at Marubeni locality in Libode between 02:10 and 08:30 on Saturday, 29 June.
According to police spokesperson, Captain Welile Matyolo it is alleged that the male victim (18) telephonically called the female victim (16), a learner at Victor Potio Senior Secondary School, at about 02:10 from her residential area in the locality.
He said that at about 05:30, she was found with gunshot wounds on her upper body, lying in a pool of blood.
“At about 08:30, the body of the male victim (18) was also found with gunshot wounds on both the upper and lower body.
” The motive for both murders is unknown at this stage and forms part of the investigation,” said Matyolo.
Police plead with anyone with information that can lead to the arrest of the perpetrators to contact the investigating officer Detective Warrant Officer Mthimba @ 071 4752181 or crime stop number 08600 10111 or alternatively contact the nearest police station.
“Callers may remain anonymous, and their identity will remain strictly confidential,” concluded Matyolo.
