Eastern Cape Transport spokesperson, Unathi Binqose confirmed that two people have lost their lives on the scene while 12 sustained injuries in a taxi accident on the N2 near Bulara area just outside East London and Butterworth this morning, October 6.
Binqose said it is alleged that the taxi driver lost control, and it overturned.
He confirmed that it was coming from the Bulura area to East London.
“This is one of the incidents that had been reported this morning, but this is the only one that has claimed lives. The Eastern Cape Transport MEC, Xolile Nqatha is calling road users to be extra vigilant because the roads are wet and there are some poor visibilities in some parts due to this weather condition. It is expected to be with us for the whole weekend,” he said.
