Nyandeni Local Municipality will showcase investment opportunities under its jurisdiction, when it hosts a two-day Investment Summit scheduled for September 6 and 7.
The investment summit will be held under the theme, “Exploring Investment Opportunities in Nyandeni Municipality”.
The summit will primarily focus on five priority areas aligned to the municipality’s Vision 2030 development plan.
The priority areas are infrastructure as an enabler, agriculture, tourism, retail and the oceans economy, manufacturing, growing the local economy and 4IR skills development.
The municipality, made up of Libode and Ngqeleni towns, recently adopted a new corporate identity and slogan as part of its endeavours to entice existing and potential investors, as well as the attention of investors to available investment opportunities in the municipality.
“The newly-adopted corporate identity is a product of the collective minds of the public, which showcases Nyandeni’s wealth of natural beauty and outstanding landscapes, as well as our favourable climate and fertile soils for major agricultural production, the oceans economy, property development, manufacturing and tourism development,” said municipal spokesperson, Ncebakazi Kolwane.
“Building a better future with the people” is Nyandeni Local Municipality’s new slogan, which suggests active involvement of its citizens in the council’s development agenda.
The municipality previously used “Deciding with the people, not for the people” as its slogan.
Kolwane says that the upcoming investment summit is aimed at bringing the municipality’s vision to life, in line with its newly-adopted corporate identity.
The municipality aims at showcasing investment opportunities on its 20 kilometre coastline that includes Hluleka, Mgcibe, Mthatha Mouth, Presley Bay and Mdumbi beaches.
“This natural resource thus offers opportunities within the ocean’s economy. The municipality is also strategically located along the R61 route that links Mthatha and Port St Johns. The road is currently being upgraded and will become re-routed as the N2 Wild Coast Toll Road which will link the port cities and economic hubs of East London and Durban,” added Kolwane.
