THE founder and chairperson of the Hope of Glory Non-Profit Organisation (NPO), Apostle Thamsanqa Novunywa, from Ngqeleni, confirmed that they hosted a Career Exhibition at Zimbane locality in Mthatha with the aim of uplifting education in the areas of King Sabata Dalindyebo (KSD) Local Municipality.

He also stated that they have been hosting awareness campaigns on various topics at Zimbane locality in Mthatha for the past two weeks.

“We equipped our learners from different schools so that they can be prepared for tertiary education. Besides being taught about careers and skills, they were also educated about respect. We know that nowadays, we face the challenge of young people who do not listen to their elders. This is one of the factors creating problems for them,” said Novunywa.

According to him, before they officially registered the organisation, they used to donate food parcels to communities to help fight poverty. “Due to the difficult situations people are facing and the passion we have for assisting local communities, we decided to register the organisation so that we could be recognised in case any issues arise. Our main purpose is to preach the gospel, but to do so effectively, we must also play our role in supporting the community.”

He further explained that they are aware of the challenges communities face, such as drug and alcohol abuse, and their organisation is actively conducting various awareness campaigns to address these issues. Novunywa also confirmed that they had hosted a programme to equip individuals interested in the business industry. “We invited different stakeholders to educate aspiring entrepreneurs because we realised that many people get stuck and don’t know what steps to take to achieve their dreams.”

One of the beneficiaries, Indiphile Bacela (21), from Zimbane Valley in Mthatha, said she had gained a lot of knowledge in this programme. She stated that she did not have any information about how to start a business, but now she is ready to go forward. “This was a great opportunity and with this knowledge I will be able to start my own business now,” she said.
