A RADIO presenter from Ingwane FM in Mthatha, Mzukisi Nqubule, has made the province of the Eastern Cape proud, winning two awards in the Isicathamiya Music Awards recently.
These awards were held at Stable Theatre in Durban, and were organised by Saziso Infotainment and Project (SIP). Nqubule is doing an Isicathamiya programme called Umlambo Ongatshiyo which runs from 21:00 until 00:00 on Mondays at Ingwane FM. He said that after he saw an advert about these awards, he tried his luck in 2021.
“I won as the Best Isicathamiya Radio Presenter in 2021, and this year I won in the same category. There were nine community radio stations who were contenders,” said Nqubule.
He said that there were five radio stations who managed to win in this category. It was Ingwane FM, Zululand FM, Inkandla FM, Harry Gwala FM and Vibe FM.
Nqubule added that what made him more proud was that he represented the Eastern Cape.
“Most of the time this kind of music used to be known by people from KwaZulu-Natal only; now I have shown them that even in EC we know and we love it. I am very happy that I have managed to put my radio station on the map.”
He thanked all his followers and the listeners of his programme who are supporting him.
