THE newly elected Chairperson of the King Sabatha Dalindyebo Municipal Public Accounts Committee (MPAC), Councillor Makhosandile Majeke, has held his first meeting since assuming the role.
According to the spokesperson for the municipality, Sonwabo Mampoza, Majeke was unanimously elected by the KSD Municipal Council during a council meeting held on January 29, 2025, at the Enkululekweni Council Chambers.
“This meeting was successful, and several reports were presented to committee members, including senior management of the municipality. It followed six days of site visits to service delivery sites and projects in Mthatha, Mqanduli, and Coffee Bay. Once the committee concludes its site visits, it is expected to prepare a report for the council,” said Mampoza.
He added that Majeke is taking over from the former MPAC Chairperson, Councillor Msuthukazi Bango, who resigned from the position at the end of December 2024 to assume the role of Manager for the Integrated Development Plan (IDP).
“The position of IDP Manager became vacant when its previous holder, Achibold Mayekiso, retired in 2024.
“The municipality deemed it important to advertise the post without delay, as the IDP is one of the municipality’s critical functions.
“With regard to illegal dumping sites, the committee wanted to see the illegal dumping sites as they have been reported several times, and the municipality is spending a lot of money cleaning them. Once the committee finishes the visits, it will prepare a report to Council with recommendations.”
