MIGHTY Eagles FC, currently sitting in second position in the ABC Motsepe Inland Stream, received a substantial sponsorship boost this past weekend after a businessman from Mthatha stepped in and donated bomber jackets.
The Managing Director of Ayabulela Amaxesibe Trading, Vuyisile Tupa, donated 30 bomber jackets to the Eagles’ team. The jackets will be particularly beneficial as the team heads into the winter season, with some days already experiencing cold weather conditions due to global warming.
Football involves many factors; you can have good players as a team, but if they are not motivated and supported, it’s easy for them to lose on the field. Sport scientists always encourage football managers and directors to secure sponsorships at lower levels to assist players, as many come from different backgrounds.
Mighty Eagles FC General Manager, Zimkhitha Tyopo, said they are very grateful to have received such a donation, as it will assist in boosting the confidence of players on and off the field.
“The jackets came in handy as the team had none; this will change the mindset of our players to stay positive all the time,” said Tyopo. “We are grateful to Ayabulela Amaxesibe Trading for their contribution to football development in the O.R. Tambo Region. We hope that this great initiative will encourage other business owners to invest in football development,” Tyopo added.
Mighty Eagles FC is currently in second position with 23 points, while FC Ravens are in first place with 27 points. This means the Eagles still have a chance of winning the league, depending on their upcoming fixtures.
Recently, Mighty Eagles made history by becoming the first newly promoted ABC Motsepe League team to qualify for the Nedbank Cup last 32 in their first season.
