MBHASHE Local Municipality has called on Small, Medium, and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) and co-operatives to apply for funding to bolster their businesses, as a means of changing their personal financial situations and helping government deal with unemployment.
Mbhashe’s Executive Mayor, Samkelo Janda, said the programme is enshrined in the municipality’s local economic development strategy.
He said, as it forms part of the local authority’s integrated development plan, it is funded in the 2024/2025 budget.
“For the 2024/2025 financial year we are calling on SMMEs and co-operatives in the Mbhashe Local Municipal area to apply for business support which will not be more than R50 000 per entity.
“Applicants must submit a list of the needed working tools, and our officials will adjudicate,” he said.
The applications will close on August 30 at 16:00, he said, adding that the support will go to registered entities that must have CK numbers.
The prospective candidates must be 18 years and above, and they must be SA citizens.
“We call on all SMMEs and co-operatives not to miss this opportunity. As we promote Vuk’ uzenzele (get up and do it yourself), we call on businesses to help improve their financial situations, and help the government fight unemployment and poverty,” Janda said.
