Yanga Malusi (23) from Gwadana Village at Dutywa, Mbhashe, has once again won annual Spargs SuperSpar Birthday Bonanza 5KM race competition at Butterworth over the weekend.
Real Gijimas athletic club runner, Malusi has out run more than 150 athletes who were part of the event to defend his Spargs SuperSpar Birthday Bonanza 5KM title for six consecutive times on Saturday morning.
The Real Gijimas athletic club has made 14:10 minutes to retain his 5KM race title and he won R600 first prize for taking position number in the male category.
The race started at the front of Spargs SuperSpar shop to Butterworth Trianing College in Mission Village, where all althetes were turning and coming back to finish their race where they started.
Mvuzo Mpofu from Zwelonke athletics club took position number two with 15:51 minutes and won the R500 prize.
Sinokhanyo Dumaxi from Real Gijimas athletics club took position number three with 16:15 minutes in the male category and won the R400 prize.
Malusi, who won the 5KM race, has said that he is very happy to won the competition once again.
He said that he always made good preparations before he competed in any event and that is why he always performs well most the time.
In the previous eight years, Malusi has won seven different races and defended them in the Mnquma area and he is still aiming at winning more.
In the female category results, Xhapha Asemahle, from Royal Strider athletics club, took position number one with 21:40 minutes and won the R600 first prize.
Mvalo Liso, from Royal Strider athletics club, took second position with 23:09 minutes and won R500 in prize money.
Dlavana Weziwe, from Hlazo athletics club, took position number three with 23:17 minutes and won the R400 prize.
Event organiser, Lulama Tase from Royal Strides athletics club, has thanked all athletes who partook in the competition and also congratulated the winners.
Tase highlighted that they were impressed with how the athletes performed during the event and it shows that they (athletes) are committed to athletics.
