GOALKEEPING coach, Siviwe Ndamase, is pleased with his progress.
“I believe that I am still on the right track to achieve my dream of coaching for one of the big teams as a goalkeeper coach,” said Ndamase.
Siviwe Ndamase began his football career in an organised league in the 2015/2016 season, playing for Marubeni All Stars FC in his birthplace, Libode. Over the past six years, he has already achieved some of his short-term goals, winning gold medals with previous teams. Recently, he was among the coaches who graduated with a CAF D coaching license.
Siviwe is currently working as the goalkeeper coach for WSU Mthatha Campus FC.
“I never thought I could be a goalkeeper coach at this time, but I’m grateful to the WSU management for giving me this opportunity and placing their trust in me,” said Ndamase.
“I started playing at Marubeni All Stars FC in Libode, participating in the LFA, and we were promoted to the SAB League. I then moved to Happy Movers FC, which prompted my move from Libode to Mthatha. In my second season in the SAB League, we won the league with Happy Movers FC in the 2018/19 season. During that season, I conceded only 7 goals and kept 9 clean sheets over 14 matches.
“I also played for Champions FC in Lusikisiki before receiving an offer from WSU Mthatha Campus. In my third season playing for WSU, we won the league while I was both a player and an assistant in coaching. We advanced to the provincial playoffs but unfortunately lost.”
“I never thought I could become a goalkeeper coach, but individuals like Samkelo Shibe, Nkosohlanga Dikeni, and Siyamthanda Mngomeni were instrumental in helping me achieve this. Recently, I attended a D licence coaching course, which was something I needed. It has given me a new perspective on football. I can now analyse entire teams and their application of transitions, thanks to Mr Luxolo Matikinca for organising this coaching course.”
“I am thankful to the entire WSU technical team for their assistance since joining WSU. I am particularly grateful to the Chairman, Mr Tshangela,” said Siviwe.
