Lulama Nomayishe, popularly known as DJ Lujar, who was recently in the top two DJ category of the TruFM talent search, said he fell in love with music from a young age and knew he had the talent that needed to be refined.
An Mthatha local, Nomayishe said having the community radio station, UCR FM, grant him an opportunity to submit his mixtapes made him realise he actually wanted to share his talent with the world.
Nomayishe further said his journey with TruTalent Search was an out-of-this-world experience, as he was a first-time entrant but managed to get to the top two in the DJ category.
“I learned a lot there, and it also helped me in terms of how to build my brand and how to be a better DJ. The platform gained me a large following, and I’m grateful. I appreciate everyone who took their time to vote for me.”
DJ Lujar said he wants to enter the competition again and that when he does, he knows exactly where to improve and he’ll make sure he pushes even harder with the knowledge gained.
Nomayishe had advice for anyone wanting to refine their talent.
“To anyone who wants to fulfill their dreams or refine their talent, but doesn’t have enough confidence and is filled with doubt, the only key is to trust yourself and believe in you only. Stop thinking about what others may think or say especially when it comes to something you have always wanted to do. Go for it and do not give up even if you are rejected. Keep pushing.”
