Libode-born Afro-pop singer, Dr Nomdakazana Dlamini, is flying the South African flag high after being nominated for the She Global Awards East Africa, set for later in November in Kenya.

The She Awards are global awards that focus on women.

I was nominated because of my hard work as a woman that I do globally. The category I was nominated for is Entertainment Founder, for which my awards, the Mzansi Traditional and Cultural Music Awards, are recognised. Bear in mind, those awards are national awards that have uplifted many artists from around the country. Up until today, I remain unfunded, but because it’s part of my calling, God keeps providing for the awards to be a success.

She mentioned that she received an award in March in the Republic of Benin, which was celebrated in Gauteng. Dlamini would like to be celebrated at home in the Eastern Cape. She is looking forward to having a sponsor to fund her trip to the awards. In its 30 years of celebrating democracy, she was made International Cultural Exchange Ambassador to Tanzania, representing South Africa.

“I am very excited about the nomination; it shows that somewhere, someone is watching my good work even outside the country. I doubt I will be able to attend the event because I can’t afford the flights. This is why I am appealing to my province or any good Samaritan to help,” she said.
