The founder and director of Icon’s Journey Foundation, Chief Vulithuba Sangoni, confirmed that The 400 km Icon’s Journey Marathon Challenge had started yesterday from Fort Hare University in Alice to Fort Beaufort.
He said 12 runners who are participating in this Challenge are on Day Two today.
“They are proceeding between Whitlesea and Fort Beaufort today.
“Tomorrow, they will start from Whitlesea to Half Way Cofimvaba. They are running 42 kilometres each day.
“Then, on the last day, they will be running 103 km to make that 400 km,” said Sangoni.
He added that this Challenge would take eight days.
On Tuesday, July 25, they will start from Whitlesea to Queenstown; on Wednesday, July 26, from Queenstown to Half way Cofimvaba; on Thursday, July 27, they will start from Half Way Cofimvaba to Cofimvaba; on Friday, July 28, from Cofimvaba to Ngcobo, on Saturday, July 29 from their starting point will be Ngcobo to Clarkebury Senior Secondary School, on Sunday, July 30, they will start from Clarkebury Senior Secondary School to Nelson Mandela Museum in Mthatha.
