Mthatha’s regional shopping mall, BT Ngebs City, commemorated this year’s Youth Day on June 16, by hosting the second edition of its Future Stars Competition. This youth talent search competition aims at finding Mthatha’s best dance and music talent, between the ages of 13 and 21.

About 100 hopefuls from around Mthatha showed up to showcase their music and dance talents during the auditions.

The decision on who gets to win as the best in both music and dance categories has entirely been left to the public.

“We will upload videos of all the hopefuls who came to our auditions on the BT Ngebs City Facebook page, and the contestant with the highest combined interactions on their audition video will be crowned the winner in each category,” said a BT Ngebs City representative.

The winner of each category will win a BT Ngebs City shopping voucher to the value of R2 500. The cherry on top is an all-expenses paid trip to Johannesburg, where each winner and a guardian will get to rub shoulders with influential people in their category.

The winner in the dance category will spend a day with actress, television presenter, radio personality, dancer, choreographer, singer, and model, Bontle Modisele, while the winner in the music category will get to spend a day with DJs Sphectacular and Naves, also known as Kings of the Weekend.

BT Ngebs City has warned against the use of bots by contestants to increase their votes, saying any contestant found with an excessive number of bots on their entry will immediately be disqualified.

Last year’s two winners also won a trip to Gauteng and met internationally-recognised dancer, Bontle Modiselle, as well as Metro FM DJ, DJ Sabby, at the Metro FM studios.
