WELL KNOWN gospel artist, the director and the founder of Nduna Event Management, Betusile Mcinga, said that the third annual O.R Tambo Gospel Festival, which was held in Mthatha recently, was aimed at uplifting the standard of local artists around the OR Tambo District Municipality.
This event is hosted in the first week of September every year.
“Our aim is to uplift the standard of the local artists to share the stage with national gospel artists. Also, (we aim) at boosting the economy in Mthatha because some of the people who attend it, come from far away.
“When I perform at other places and see how they are hosting these events, I feel as if I can also do the same here in my home town,” said Mcinga.
He added that before this festival was hosted, they conducted auditions so that they could choose local artists who would perform in this festival.
“We cannot allow all the artists to participate; that is why we hold auditions first.”
He said that his foundation, called the Betusile Mcinga Foundation, worked with Khiwa Media and the Siya Mbethe Foundation and donated uniforms, shoes and sanitary products to local schools.
