Since East London boxer Siya Kuse joined Brian Mitchell’s camp in Johannesburg, the sky is the limit.
From being a drug addict, written off as a fighter, to winning the SA and ABU belts, Kuse clearly showed that he miraculously left the past behind in order to re-establish his career as a professional boxer.
His determination was evident when he won the WBC title last December by defeating Beaven Sibanda at Emperors Palace on the East Rand.
On May 31, Kuse will make his second appearance for promoter Rodney Berman when he takes on Samuel Salva from the Philippines.
Kuse (21), a southpaw, is eager to better his record of 11 fights, eight wins, two losses and one draw.Highly-rated Vusi Mtolo is now his trainer and Mitchell his manager after he left trainer Mlandeli Tengimfene in East London.
“Kuse is in safe hands. We look after him and encourage him to do his best at all times. We believe he has a bright future as he now concentrates 100% on his career,” Mtolo said.
Kuse is now set to defend the title he has just won, but the Mitchell camp believes he can go a long way towards more titles in the future.
