MQANDULI, Eastern Cape -Mzwandile Zakade, founder of Ilanga Film Production, will host a three-day filmmaking camp for aspiring actors, writers and filmmakers at Zitulele location in Mqanduli from 30 October to 1 November.

Participants will each contribute R200 which covers meals and certificates.

He started Ilanga Film Production with a clear mission: to tell real stories about real people, rooted in Eastern Cape culture, that inspire, educate and create lasting social impact.

“What began as a community vision has grown into a working production house producing television series, short films and community-driven projects,” said Zakade.

Zakade said his expertise includes cinematography, including framing, lighting and camera movement; editing using Adobe Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro; sound design, including Foley, dialogue editing, mixing and mastering; and post-production, including colour grading and visual effects.

His selected filmography includes Izithunywa Zomthakathi Parts 1 and 2 (2023), the Dark Shadow television series (2024), and Pretty, Isimnyama, Dating My Brother, Betrayal, Rage and Uhambo Olude. He worked as a writer, boy grip and unit manager on these productions. He also appeared as a background actor in Gateway.

“My vision is to continue growing as a filmmaker, to create authentic stories, to collaborate with talented teams across South Africa and to use film as a tool for education, healing and social transformation,” said Zakade.
