University of Fort Hare FC and Executive Ladies from Ntabankulu are the teams which are going to compete against each other in a provincial decider game, and the winners will be crowned Eastern Cape Sasol League Champions this season.
This follows after Executive Ladies wrapped up the season in the Sasol League Inland Stream sitting on top of the log standings with 43 points, after they defeated Eluhewini Ladies 3–2 at Ntabankulu sports ground over the weekend.
The weekend victory has helped the Ntabankulu team to win the Inland Stream title back-to-back.
Ayakha Stars FC from Mthatha, who were competing with Coach Khetho Ngonini’s team (Executive Ladies), wrapped up their season sitting in second position, with 40 points, after they punished Amanqilo Birds FC 10–0 at home on Saturday afternoon.
That win was not enough to reshuffle Inland Stream champions Executive Ladies out of the top spot, as three points was a gap between these two sides.
Meanwhile in the Sasol League Coastal Stream, University of Fort Hare FC surprised football supporters when they won the stream ahead of defending champions, Sophakama Ladies’ FC, by 46 points.
Last season the Gqeberha team, Sophakama Ladies’ FC, were the Coastal Stream champions and they even won the decider against Executive Ladies, but this season things have changed as they finished in second place, with 42 points, after they defeated Phoenix Birds Ladies’ FC 6–1 on Saturday.
On the same day, University of Fort Hare FC punished Kilimanjaro Stars FC 5–0 at home to remain on top.
Now Executive Ladies and University of Fort Hare FC will lock horns in the decider which will be played at Dumpy Adams sports ground in the Chris Hani Region on August 19.
The winners will be crowned Eastern Cape Sasol League Overall Champions, and they will go to Sasol League National Promotion Play-Offs on September 24 to October 3, to represent the province.
The place and venue to host these Sasol League National Promotion Play-Offs are yet to be confirmed by the South African Football Association (SAFA).
