THE Sasol League Inland Stream champions, Executive Ladies from Ntabankulu, are looking forward to the decider against the new champions of Sasol League Coastal Stream, University of Fort Hare FC.
Both champions from different streams are expected to battle each other at the Dumpy Adams stadium in Komani on Saturday afternoon.
The team which wins the decider will represent the Eastern Cape at the Sasol League national promotion playoffs, which will be held on September 24 until October 3 at a venue to be confirmed.
Ntabankulu team coach, Khetho Ngonini, said that they are underway with the preparations for this big encounter and they are aiming at doing well.
Ngonini said that they are not familiar with, or they don’t know much about, the playing style of the teams who were competing in coastal stream, but they are working hard to get players ready.
He said that as much as they won their stream back-to-back it was not easy, because their opponents were giving them a tough time.
He said that he expects the same thing when they play in the deciding match as the University of Fort Hare FC will be also aiming at winning the encounter.
Last season Ngonini’s team were beaten by Sophakama Ladies from Gqeberha, at the Dumpy Adams Stadium in Komani.
This time around, the Ntabankulu team is aiming at doing well but it won’t be easy, as they will be playing against the University of Fort Hare FC for the first time in a decider, and both teams don’t know each other that well.
The University of Fort Hare FC had surprised everyone when they won the Sasol League Coastal Stream last year, under the noses of last year’s champions, Sophakama Ladies’ FC, last month.
Football supporters thought the Gqeberha team would win the Coastal Stream back-to-back, like the Ntabankulu team, but Fort Hare FC denied them the opportunity.
Fort Hare FC is a strong team that could give Ngonini’s chargers a tough time next week.
