The bail hearing for Nomboleko Simayile, the woman accused of bludgeoning her four children to death, has been postponed.
According to National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson, Luxolo Tyali, Simayile was set to apply for bail in the Engcobo Magistrates Court on Thursday, November 17. However, she collapsed in the police holding cells and was rushed to a nearby hospital.

State prosecutor, Lindelwa Totyi, said that they had filed an urgent application for Simayile to undergo a psychiatric evaluation.
“The state intends applying for the accused to be referred to observation in accordance to Section 77 of the Criminal Procedure Act on her next appearance, as there is reasonable suspicion that she is not mentally fit to stand trial,” said Tyali.
The bail hearing has been postponed to November 29.
