Eastern Cape teams which will feature in the Hollywoodbets Super League are expected to use the current FIFA break effectively if they want to improve their log standings when the league resumes.

Both EC teams, City Lads Ladies from Gqeberha, and Butterworth team, Thunderbirds Ladies, are sitting at the bottom of the Hollywoodbets Super League standings, as they are still struggling to find their feet in the division this season.

Since the start of the season both EC teams have been blowing hot and cold, in terms of their performance.

With their recent poor performance both clubs finished the first round of the season sitting outside the top 10, and that situation shows how they are really struggling to collect maximum points.

Currently City Lads Ladies occupied the 13th position with 14 points in 19 league games, while Thunderbirds Ladies is rooted in 15th position with nine points in 19 league games.

Since the start of the season, the Gqeberha team won four games, lost 13 and played two draws in the division.

The Butterworth team only won two games, drew three and suffered 14 defeats in the Hollywoodbets Super League this year.

Considering their recent results, it means that they need to find a plan to regain their performance in 11 remaining fixtures of the season.

Earlier this month, the Butterworth team hosted open trials at Walter Sisulu University, Bika Campus, to scout players so that they can reinforce their squad, particularly up front, where they are struggling to convert their chances.

From July 10 to 15, City Lads Ladies in Motherwell NU2 Stadium also invited players who they think are talented in football and those players were assessed in their technical skills, tactical skills, physical fitness, and psychological traits.

The aim for both teams to host these events is to try their best to find players who will boost their squads and assist them going forward.

Hollywoodbets Super League is expected to return to action next month on August 5 and City Lads Ladies will resume the league against University of Pretoria who occupy the first position in the log.

On Saturday, September 2, it will be the EC Derby where City Lads Ladies will host Thunderbird Ladies in Gqeberha.
