KUGOMPO CITY – Police in Duncan Village have launched a triple murder investigation following a shooting that left three men dead last night at Bhebhelele Informal Settlement in KuGompo City.
According to police spokesperson Brigadier Nobuntu Gantana, at about 23:20, police responded to a complaint on Jiba Street.
“Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered spent cartridges outside a shack.
“Inside the same shack, they found the bodies of three males with multiple gunshot wounds.
“Several cartridges and bullet heads were recovered inside the shack,” she explained.
She said, according to a preliminary statement from a witness, the three deceased had gone to this particular shack.
“Finding it locked, they forced entry.
“The witness was instructed to remain outside and alert the others if the owner returned.
“While standing watch, four unknown males approached and opened fire on the victims inside the shack,” she further explained.
She stated that the ages of the deceased are 28, 36 and 37.
“Their identities are known to the police but will be released once next-of-kin notification is completed,” she added.
The motive for the shooting is currently unknown, and no arrests have been made.
