Khanyisa Bunu, the director of Khanyisa Bunu Productions, has announced the launch of the Eastern Cape Comedy Festival, which will be held across three district municipalities in the Eastern Cape. The festival aims to entertain audiences and showcase both local and national comedic talent.

The first show is scheduled for December 18 at Hemingways Mall in East London, followed by a performance at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha on December 19. The final show will take place at Hotel Savoy in Mthatha on December 20. All shows will run from 19:30 to 22:30.

Our goal is to entertain the people of the Eastern Cape. We have eight comedians from the Eastern Cape and six national comedians from other provinces. We guarantee that attendees will enjoy the performances because we have assembled some of the best comedians.

She shared her journey from teaching at Zolani Primary School in Whittlesea to pursuing her passion for comedy. “I have always loved entertaining people. I used to watch comedy shows and tell myself that I could do the same. In 2009, I participated in the SABC show, So You Think You’re Funny! After winning, I decided to follow my dream and haven’t looked back since,” she said.

Tickets for the festival are priced at R300 and are available at Pick n Pay, Boxer Superstores, and Webtickets. According to Bunu, tickets that were initially priced at R250 have already sold out.

“I encourage my supporters to attend so they can see me live. Many know me from radio but have never seen me in person,” she added.
