THE Convener of Justice, Services, and Reconciliation and Circuit Steward in the Ngangelizwe Society, Circuit 1306 in Mthatha, Tembisa Zihlangu, confirmed that they had hosted a prayer session for Grade 12 students as they prepared to start their exams last week.

According to her, they prayed for all students since everyone is taking exams.

“Most of the time, our schools face challenges with children who are attacked by demons during exams. Some lose focus while writing due to negative spirits. These disturbances often occur in the exam rooms. By hosting this prayer, we aimed to invite the Holy Spirit to protect them,” said Zihlangu.

She added that it was their first time hosting such an event and expressed hope that it would become an annual occurrence.

According to her, this does not mean they wait until the end of the year; they continue to pray for children throughout the year.

Zihlangu noted that young people are facing challenges with alcohol and drugs, which are detrimental to their lives.

“We also pray about these issues because today’s youth are the future of tomorrow. By hosting this prayer, we want them to have a smooth examination experience, and we want those in Grade 12 to understand that the world is watching them now.”

She revealed that her church has five pillars that help to build the community: Education, Evangelism, Spiritual Growth, Empowerment, and Justice and Services.

Vuyelwa Hardy, Vice President of Women’s Manyano Mthatha Circuit 1306, advised parents to ensure they support their children during this difficult time.

“It is important for parents to have copies of the exam schedules for their children, especially for Grade 12 students, to ensure they do not miss their exams. By doing this, parents will know when their children are writing so they can provide the necessary support and ensure they do not miss their classes.

“We must also change the way we do things at home to provide enough support. We know this is a challenging time for them, which is why it’s crucial to support them,” said Hardy.

She added that she advised students to re-read their questions and to answer the ones they know first.
