Employees from Mister Bread hosted learners Camp in Mthatha, which took two weeks.

It started on Wednesday, June 28, until Thursday, July 13, to develop young children to know how to run their businesses in future.

The Sales Manager for Mister Bread, Siphiwe Kubhayi, confirmed they started hosting this initiative in 2021. He confirmed they invited seven Primary Schools from King Sabatha Dalindyebo (KSD) Local Municipality.

When you look at the environment of Mthatha, Mthatha is still underdeveloped. Many challenges face it, and some children are growing up without the proper guidance from their homes. There are no jobs in nowadays, so the company has come up with a concept to show care to the community.

He added that they wanted to support these children so they could be successful in life at a later stage. He said they are helping them with learning and skills development.

He says this development deals with finances and entrepreneurship at a young age.

Kubhayi said this would assist them in thinking about things that could help them to start their businesses even though they are still young.

“They also come up with their own good ideas and see what is needed from their community. Some of them are talking about internet cafes, car wash etc. By training and empowering them, we are making them to have eyes to see and to know how to run their businesses at the later stage.”

He said they also visit them to see how they are doing. One of the learners who participated in this program, Inathi Nenze (14), said they learned a lot. She said now they know that they can start the business even if the person is still a child.

“It was my first time attending this, and I will start doing something for myself to have money,” said Nenze.

The names of the schools who participated in this Camp were Kululeko Ralo Primary School, Zimbane Valley Primary School, Tyumbu Primary School, Nxeko Mtirara Primary School, Siviwe Buso Primary School, Ikhwezi Community Primary School and Mkatini Primary School.
