A COMMUNITY member from Tanga Village in Butterworth, Linda Filtane, is appealing to community members and businesses from the Eastern Cape to donate study guides to assist learners from Tanga Senior Secondary School and Ezingqayi Senior Secondary School, in Butterworth.
He said that he is looking for study guides for Grade 10, 11 and 12.
Filtane said he is the member of the Tanga School Governing Body (SGB).
He had embarked on the fund-raising campaign with the aim of helping these two schools.
“I secured a remarkable partner with The Answer Series Project Jika, a renowned educational publisher. This collaboration promises a Rand-for-Rand match for every study guide purchased through his efforts.
This initiative aims at ensuring that learners at both schools have access to quality study materials, thereby improving their chances of academic success.
He said he believes that with the collective effort of their community they can make a significant difference in the lives of these learners.
Filtane said donations can be made directly through him with every Rand being matched by The Answer Series to maximise the impact.
“This drive not only honours Nelson Mandela’s legacy, but also strengthens the fabric of the Tanga Village community.
“Make your meaningful contribution towards the development of our youth by purchasing one or more study guides at a cost of R279 each.
“Remember for each study guide you buy, The Answer’s Project Jika will donate the equivalent. I am passionate about helping others, especially in my community.
“In my letter to potential sponsors, I have described that this is a rural village in an impoverished community where the learners show a lot of great potential,” said Filtane.
He added that by doing this he would like to turn their situation around to ensure great careers for them.
He added that this initiative will benefit them when they apply to tertiary institutions, and they will also gain meaningful education for their own independence in careers.
“This is not my first initiative as I have been engaged in different initiatives for a long time. I have previously offered matric study guides for maths and science in 2021, and now those are dilapidated. With the current initiative, the book supplier called The Answer Series will work with me and these schools for three years to ensure follow-up.”
He confirmed that donors are welcome to get in touch with him, and on the quotation there are bank details for The Answer Series, in order to facilitate direct deposits without him handling the cash.
