THE co-ordinator of KwaKhanya Events, Thulani Hlongwane, has confirmed that the organisation will be hosting a Maskandi Festival at Ngolo location in Libode this month.

The aim of this festival is to uplift artists who are singing this kind of music. Hlongwane said they would host this event on September 26 to celebrate Heritage Month.

He said they started this event in 2014 because they wanted people to remember their roots and to know about what music their forefathers performed.

“We want to ensure that people don’t forget where they are coming from. On this day we will give a platform to different artists to show us their talent.

“They will be coming from different districts of the Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal,” said Hlongwane.

He added that they were expecting around 100 people to attend this event and that rules for COVID-19 would be adhered to. Tickets will cost R50 at the entrance.
