The augmentation of the late
Nelson Mandela’s legacy has positioned the Nelson
Mandela Museum in Mthatha as a hub for knowledge, inspiration, and hope among
youth and the public.
Chief Executive Officer for Nelson Mandela
Museum, Dr Vuyani Booi said advancing its mandate, the museum will host a Spring school camp from October 3 to 6, 2022.
“More than 20 learners from different
provinces are expected to converge for the programme,” said Booi.
He added that since the programme’s inception in 2007, the museum has hosted
more than 2 000 learners through national youth camps and has taken more than 50
learners to the annual international youth camp held in Lower Saxony, Germany.
“The motive behind the establishment of the programme was informed by Nelson Mandela’s ideology that; Nelson Mandela Museum should become a place where the youth is
nurtured to embrace and defend the freedom that they enjoy. This can only be
achieved through educational programmes of this nature that embrace Mandela’s values.”
