The spokesperson for Nqadu Great Place, Prince Bangisizwe Mtoto, described the late Nkosikazi Nomlindelo Dondashe, from Sintsana location in Centane, as someone who was very dedicated to her work and in bringing development to her area.

Her body was found by students in Teko Vocational Forest, outside Centane, recently.

Mtoto confirmed that Dondashe was standing in as chieftain for her son, who was still at school, to take over as a traditional leader.

“We had visited the family, and this is very painful. It seems as if people are no longer afraid of jail nowadays. That is why we are always swimming in blood. It is very easy now for people to kill someone, meaning that the world we are living in is no longer safe,” said Mtoto.

The brother in-law of the deceased, Khahlela Dondashe, said that she was an outspoken person who never hid how she felt. He commented that she was a peacemaker in the family.

“She was now playing the role of being a father and a mother to her children because our brother passed away. She knew how to discipline her children, even though she was a single parent,” said Khahlela.

He added that on the day of the incident, Dondashe went to buy groceries in Centane for women who were going to cut grass.

“We heard about this tragedy and we were very shocked because we did not expect this. We are hoping that the law will play its role.”

He confirmed that Dondashe would be laid to rest this Saturday (December 3).

Police spokesperson, Siphokazi Mawisa, confirmed that when police arrived at the scene, they found her body with a bullet wound to her upper body and that she had died on the scene. “A case of murder has been opened for investigation. The circumstances surrounding the incident forms part of the investigation,” said Mawisa.
