A Grade 5 learner from Faith Primary School in Mthatha, Ndinani Poswayo (10), from Kwezi Township in Mthatha, is on a mission to pursue her dream of being a well-known model, who will walk the catwalk in America one day.

Her mother, Somila Mkona, said before Ndinani started on a journey of modelling, she kept on asking her to assist her to follow her dream.

“She even suggested that we relocate to other cities like Durban or Johannesburg, thinking that she might get some greener pastures there.

“While I was thinking about this, I searched on the internet for schools that might help her. I then found Bright Stars Academy that is based here in Mthatha,” said Mkona.

She added that her daughter started at this academy in March.

Ndinani entered her first competition called Face of Grand Eastern Cape, which took place at Nkandla Lifestyle in Mthatha in June, when she won her first “queen” title.

“After that she got a gig to promote the Future Stars competition for dancers and singers at BT Ngebs in Mthatha. She then competed in another competition called Miss Heritage Eastern Cape that was held in September 24, in East London, and achieved another queen title.

She then participated in Miss Remarkable South Africa, which was held in Mpumalanga, where she was the overall winner.

“As the mother, I do not know what to say because I know that she is someone who has big dreams, but her academy played a major role.

“I am sure that if I had not got information about them, surely my daughter would be still sitting at home because I did not have other means. I believe that her dream of going to America will come true because she believes in herself,” said Mkona.

Talking to Express, Ndinani said her dream is becoming Miss South Africa one day.

“I like modelling because it makes you believe in yourself. During the week I focus on my school work. Then, on Saturdays, I attend my classes at Bright Stars Academy.

“I also create enough time for me to be able to play with my dolls,” said Ndinani.
