Local Municipality executive mayor Samkelo Janda and municipal manager Mkhululi
Nako have led tributes following the tragic death of the municipality chief
financial officer (CFO) Ntabethemba Nokwe.
According to
a statement issued by the municipality, Nokwe died from injuries sustained
after being involved in a tragic accident on April 30.
“As we pay
our last respect, I wish to acknowledge Nokwe’s outstanding contribution and
his meticulousness in executing his duties as the chief financial officer
during his tenure. He served the municipality wholeheartedly and always strived
to ensure that the municipality is in good financial state and that it is able
to meet its financial obligations,” Janda said.
Nako said Nokwe will never be forgotten for his outstanding
contribution in the critical function of financial management in the
municipality.
“He played a
vital role of sustaining financial viability and promoting good governance
within the institution. The news of his death reached the municipality when the
nation was preparing to give recognition to the efforts of civil servants
across the nation on May 1,” Nako said.
The
municipality said Janda led a delegation that visited Nokwe’s family on May 1,
to send prayers and condolences to the family.
The
municipality will hold a memorial service scheduled to take place on May 8 in
Dutywa.
Nokwe’s
funeral service will held on Friday, May 12 at Bolotwa Administrative Area.
