The Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) said it is deeply shocked and saddened by yesterday’s horrific accident between Flagstaff and Lusikisiki in which a PRASA long-distance bus collided with a minibus taxi.
The accident claimed 11 lives and left 14 people injured.
Autopax Chief Executive Officer Niel Roesch said they are deeply saddened by the number of fatalities in this accident.
“Autopax takes safety seriously and will participate fully in investigations to establish the cause of the accident. Our thoughts and sympathies are with the families and friends of those who have lost loved ones. Available information is that 11 minibus passengers lost their lives, 14 passengers from both the minibus and the bus sustained injuries,” said Roesch.
He added that passengers who suffered non-severe have been taken to the nearest hospital and clinic.
“We wish to commend the rapid response operations and attending to the injured passengers.”
