The OR Tambo District Municipality has announced the
appointment of Basil Phumlani Mase as its new municipal manager.

Mase’s appointment is effective today, June 20.

His appointment follows the appointments of two senior
managers at the district municipality that assumed office last month.

The municipality recently appointed Siyasanga Ndakisa
as its chief financial officer and Sanele Dumisani Gqiba as its infrastructure,
water, and sanitation department head.

“Following these critical appointments, the
municipality will have full complement of senior management pending the
appointment of Director: Community Services and Director: Rural Economic
Development and Planning which are enroute to council for noting,” said
municipal spokesperson Zimkhita Macingwane.

Macingwane added that the district municipality was
serious about municipal transformation and organisational renewal as it
understands its positive impact towards service delivery.

“On May 31, the council adopted the IDP and budget for
the 2023/2024 financial year as well as the reviewed organisational structure
that is aligned to the municipal mandate and strategy. The recently adopted
budget was and IDP was confirmed by the National Treasury and other relevant
authorities to be credible and funded,” Macingwane said.

Mase
previously served as Administrator of the OR Tambo District Municipality
after the municipal council was dissolved during the previous term of council.
