MNQUMA Amateur Boxing Federation is expected to host the Eastern Cape Boxing championship tournament at Butterworth Training College (BTC) near Butterworth on September 22 to 25.
The event follows after Mnquma Amateur Boxing Federation held a one-day boxing tournament at BTC on Saturday afternoon, where local boxers from different teams in Centane, Ngqamakhwe and Butterworth competed against each other.
The tournament was meant to select boxers who will represent Mnquma region in the main event, which is the coming Eastern Cape Boxing championship tournament.

Xokolo said that they have selected 28 male boxers and nine women who will represent Mnquma region in the provincial tournament.
He said they were happy about the attendance from boxing clubs as all three towns in Mnquma, made up by Centane, Ngqamakhwe and Butterworth were represented.
He also highlighted that the Mnquma local municipality officials and councillors were part of the event, to support the young boxers, and they were happy about their attendance for this one-day event.
In addition, he said that in the main event they expect Mnquma local municipality executive mayor, Tunyiswa Manxila-Nkamisa, and South Africa Amateur Boxing Federation officials to embrace the event.
All the regions in the province are expected to be represented in this coming event, and boxers who did well throughout the tournament will have an opportunity to fight in a national tournament that will be hosted next year at a currently unconfirmed venue.
In his closing remarks, Xokolo has urged parents to support their kids who are boxing and also requested sponsors to come to the party to support them in their effort to revive boxing in the Mnquma area.
