Two people have died while eight sustained injuries after a single vehicle lost control on a wet road surface on the N2 road in EmaXesibeni at Nolangeni towards Kokstad.
According to the Eastern Cape Department of Transport spokesperson, Unathi Binqose, the incident occurred on Friday, November 16:08, on the N2 road in EmaXesibeni towards Kokstad.
“The vehicle Isuzu LDV was travelling from EmaXesibeni direction with alleged 15 occupants heading to Kokstad on the N2 road.
“Driver lost control of the vehicle; it veered off the road,” said Binqose.
“The occupants on the back of the bakkie fell, and two of them died on the scene.
“The injured eight were injured while one Sustained severe injuries. The driver and other front passenger escaped unharmed,” he added.
“The injured were taken to Mt Ayliff Provincial Hospital for further medical examination.”
A case of Culpable Homicide has been opened at EmaXesibeni Saps for further investigation.
