The Mbizana Magistrate’s court has released Sanele Zinkwantshu (24) on
R1000 bail after he was charged with six counts of culpable homicide. The court
postponed the case to July 15 for further investigation.
Spokesperson for National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), Luxolo Tyali said
that this follows an accident that took place on the R61 road between Mbizana
and Mzamba on June 21, 2024, where six pedestrians were killed after they were
knocked down by a vehicle allegedly driven by the accused.
“The deceased, Siyabuya Sabelo (31), Sandiso Nkasa (30), Kamvelihle
Dindi (24), Mvisiswano Ngaleka (24), Sibonelo Potye (29) were allegedly walking
along the road when a sedan heading from the Mbizana direction towards Mzamba
plunged onto them. He was arrested on June 23 June 2024, and made his first
court appearance on June 24 June 2024,” said Tyali.
