The Eastern Cape Department of Education spokesperson, Malibongwe Mtima confirmed that the principal from Makaula Senior Secondary School in Mount Frere has been put on precautionary suspension for alleged abuse, harassment, and victimisation of other teachers.
He said, that the second teacher is on precautionary suspension due to allegations of sexual harassment and abuse of another teacher at the school.
“The investigations are still ongoing, we hope to finalise them soon.
“Precautionary suspension is lifted when investigations are finalized as mentioned in number one above, they are serious. Yes, someone is taking care of principal duties at the school,” said Mtima.
He added that the vehicle has been returned to the department; it is at the Circuit Manager Cluster office (CMC) in Mt Frere.
According to him, regarding the question of the suspension of the principal two years ago and the subsequent lifting of the suspension, the department suspended the principal, investigated the allegations, and thereafter lifted the precautionary suspension and proceeded with disciplinary action.
