MBHASHE Local Municipality has called for people in the tourism industry in the local area to submit applications for support of their businesses.
Mbashe Local Municipality Executive Mayor, Samnkelo Janda, said the local authority has set aside R1 million to support such businesses, as guided by its local economic development strategy.
“We are calling on people in the tourism industry to submit applications for support. We have set aside funds in our IDP and budget money to promote tourism in the Mbhashe area,” he said.
Janda said they were targeting people who own BnBs, crafters, tourist guides, and tour operators, among the people who are in the tourism industry. He said, however, everyone who knew they were operating in tourism should apply. The applications were opened on July 10 and will close on August 9 with applications available on the municipal website.
“We urge all the people from Mbhashe not to miss out on this opportunity. They must submit their applications and be able to benefit from this opportunity of supporting their businesses,” he said.
