A gospel singer from the Sifonondile locality in Cala, Melikhaya May, has released his new single track titled ‘La esiya khona’.
He said he started singing when he was very young and used to lead the church choir at St John’s Apostolic Faith Mission. According to him, when he was old enough, he chose to become a member of the Assemblies of God church.
“I also led an iScathamiya group called Lion’s Singers Junior, which I joined while I was at the Assemblies of God. I released my new album titled ‘Ebekhona uThixo’ in 2018. I won the Song of the Year award from the Eastern Cape Music Awards (ECMAs) held in East London.
I also won the Best Worship Song award for ‘Bayede’ in 2022 and the Best Male Artist Award from the National Amaciko Ngoma Music Awards held in Johannesburg in 2022 and 2023,” he said.
He added that he recorded his album, which consists of 12 songs, titled ‘Yangena Inhlanhla Ekhaya’, to be released in December 2024. He confirmed that he has released a single from this album.
