Brothers Group Solutions CEO, Bongani Qutala, has urged business leaders to invest in grassroots sports development to support rural sports tournament programmes. He believes these tournaments play a crucial role in combating social ills within society.
Many communities in the Eastern Cape are currently grappling with challenges such as gender-based violence, crime, and drug abuse. In response, Brothers Group Solutions decided to host a sports tournament in Hlabatshane, Mqanduli, this September as part of their efforts to address these issues.
“The main purpose of the tournament is to bring youth together to fight gender-based violence and provide young stars with an opportunity to showcase their talent,” said Qutala. “Participating in a tournament not only develops sports skills but also technical skills. We plan to invite scouts next year to select players.”
This year, 28 soccer teams participated in the tournament, with PSG FC from Mthatha emerging as the winners.
The CEO expressed his gratitude to all the sponsors who supported the event and encouraged more business leaders to get involved.
